Someone pull the emergency brake!!

Holy macaroni! Where the heck is the summer going? I feel like I am on a freight train barreling towards the end of the Earth.

I need someone to pull the emergency brake before this gets out of hand! We have barely over a month left before the kids have to go back to prison school. With the beginning of a new school year comes all the fall youth sports...which I love...but am not ready for yet.

Why do the moms kids only get two and a not even a half months off from school during the summer? I mean, I'm all about some edumacation and stuff, but why can't we have a good 3 to 4 months to enjoy getting up late the beautiful sunshine? My kids need their vitamin D! I'd rather them go to school for an extra year to make up for the lost time from the extra summer months. I really think the plan is genius and could solve a lot of problems and help the economy too. Let me tell you how....

1. We would have a year longer to wish we had started saving for the college fund.
2. Beach resorts and tourism hot spots would get more prime weeks for a revenue boost.
3. Coopertone could sell more sunscreen.
4. Dermatologists would be in greater demand.
5. Teaching positions would need to be created to accommodate the extra year of prison school.
6. We would be able to keep our kids from leaving the nest as soon.
7. Princess You would have more time to work on my your tan.
8. Dairy farms would quit losing their farms due to increased ice cream sales.
9. Hollywood would become even more obnoxiously rich benefit from more summer movie ticket sales.
10. Which reminds me.....corn farmers could keep their farms too from the increased popcorn sales.

Who doesn't want to jump on this bandwagon and help me save my sanity tan our farmers?! I'd totally run for president if I weren't so fond of being lazy busy....

Except that I love fall sports, this sounds good to me! Let's introduce a bill to congress.

You are a fricking genius! Except, can you come up with a way to make my daycare bill during the summer cheaper??

This is genius! Sign me up!

The only thing I disagree with is looking forward to fall sports. It's not the sports itself, it's me sitting in the snow at practice.

I was going to say that corn farmers would benefit from the illegal whiskey sales, LOL

I too love fall sports and hate when they run into winter.

I love your post and also feel like summer is going way to fast! I dread the Renegades going back to school and being scheduled again. Is that horrible?

As a teacher, I am ALL FOR IT. Close your eyes if you don't want an analogy that will ruin summer for the rest of your lives. Someone once told me that summer is like the weekend. June is like Friday (you just get to enjoy the last part of it), July is like Saturday (when we do all of the things we intended to do) and August is like Sunday (when we don't want it to end because the next day means work). I too feel like this freight train can't be stopped and when people try to get to me commit to things in August I won't even acknowledge it because it must be too far away, right?

You should run for office. I think this is a GREAT idea.

Here in Texas they FINALLY passed a law stating school could not begin before the fourth Monday of August. Before that us teachers were having to return before July even ended.

(Now some schools are just pushing the year into June.)

You have my vote! Lets start a petition...Not to mention here in AZ it is still in the high 90's in November! So it still feels like summer....

Sounds good to me!

I had to laugh a little at the weekend analogy that Sparkling came up with. So true.

Though, I'm a mean mom and am looking forward to my kids going to school this year.

Er...I couldn't handle both my kids at home for longer than the summer. I love them to bits but holy crap, they try my patience.

I like it! I think a year of school is a great idea!
Great to catch up on your blog. You always make me laugh which is really good for my moody post-partum irrationality these days. Thanks!

Hey, over here in Craggy Isle my kids ARE off for 3 months! Be careful of what you wish for - have you considered how many interruptions to lying-in and sunbathing is involved, playing professional taxi-driver to four teens?? I'm ready to check into the loony-bin, and the summer has just begun..

Your advocating skin cancer for children so YOU can enjoy summer a little longer?

We do agree on something. Schools are like prisons. Poor God fearing childrening being cooped up in a room full of misfit unclean souls, Lord knows who they pray to at night. The God of drugs, potty mouths and heathen sex.

Look into homeschooling so you can teach your children how to be proper men and show them how to find a good submissive wife. Never too young to start!
