Death by Legos

Today my youngest son came up to me and handed me his
Indiana Jones lego plane....in pieces.
He was distraught...my son...not Indie. Indie never gets rattled.
“Mommy (he calls me Mommy...not Princess) can you fix this?”
*picture big greenish, brownish, goldish, amberish, hazelish
(we have no idea what color to call them) eyes with tears welling up*
Me: “Of course son! I will put it back together for you.
Don’t cry dear. I’ll have it done in a jiffy.”
I mean, how hard can it be?
*rookie statement*
When he brought the plane to me it looked like this.

After I dropped it on the hardwood floors, it looked like this.

*insert forehead slap*
Okay...I can still do this. I’m smart. I’m educated. I have a masters degree
for heaven's sake. It’s a toy that’s labeled for ages 7-14 years.
I got dis!
Fast forward to 2 hours and 15 minutes later.....

Son of a biscuit eater!!! I just wasted my entire afternoon!
Why didn’t I just quit you ask? Cuz my daddy didn’t raise no quitter.
(Though my grammar is questionable at times.)
Why did it take me so long?

Two pieces.

Tried to leave them out after the first hour. Apparently they are "magic"
pieces that make the whole bloomin' thing work.

What did my son say when I proudly displayed the repaired plane?
Nothing...he had moved on to another project LOOOONG ago.
Do you see the face the smug Indiana Jones lego man is making at me?

I wonder what face he will make when I get out my secret
weapon to insure I will never have to do this again?

Score one for the princess....

Oh no, I know this day is coming. Way to go and I would totally not blame you for using the super glue...lol.

2 hours? Wow! That's longer than I can usually go with Legos.

My cop out solution - go find daddy/ask daddy when he gets home from work

LOL I hate those tiny little Legos! I wont even buy them for my boys... Im mean... =)

I loathe Legos! Even though I have *never* bought them for my son, he has tons of them. (I'm convinced my MIL hates me just because she buys them for him, she knows I hate 'em.)

Oh you bunch of silly girls! LEGOS rock! I love all the boys toys. Girls toys? Not so much.

My boys like the ones with a gazillion pieces. Next time you need some help give me a ring a ding.

We have all the plans. LEGO owes me big time. I should take up stock or something.

Oh how I would love to Super Glue those darn little, find them everywhere, hurts like a dickens when you step on them pieces together.
We know it's the faces they give us gets us everytime.

I save that for my 12 year old (whom loves to build legos), LOL

Super gluing legos is cheating. Just like a woman to do that.

my kids aren't into legos yet, so i suppose i should be grateful. and it would've taken me twice as long to fix it, so that should make you feel better!

Love it!!! That is sooo something I would've done. Once you start you have to see it through-just to prove that you CAN, whether it's to yourself or someone else. You rock, Princess!!

Great work, Princess. Indie never looked so good. I think I threw away the kids legos after stepping on them one too many times in my bare feet. (oh the pain...worse than childbirth I'm sure.)

Probably serves me right for not getting them the Lego vacuum cleaner.

"How hard can it be?" Famous last words! I wish I could count the times I've said them and soooo wanted to take them back!

I always have to get out the instructions!

And that is why you should be promoted from Princess to Queen of the Legos!

Love the super glue idea! I hot glued our train track to the table!

I LOATHE legos. Imagine that being said in super slow motion. Seriously. Additional legos are banned from the household until my son is old enough to do it all on his own.

I know that's mean, but it's life. LOL

I have never had an aptitude for legos! I think my daughter knows not to ask me for help with hers! :)

Oh my, you rock! I would've given up, sorry to say. Great job!

There is no way I could've sat for 2 hours putting that back together. It would have been run through the food processor a few times and then given a proper burial down the toilet.

*Sigh* been there, oh have I been there. I hate those lego things. I spent a whole day on one a few months back. Then? Eliah took it apart to make something else.

Too funny! I remember those days. Glad they're gone. I must have spent well over $5,000 on all the lego sets I bought, then hubby threw them all away when we moved cuz we kept stepping on them. (Glad to see that this was not isolated to our household!)

Not sure how I found you, but I found you, and I'm glad! Great blog! I also joined the Blogfia!

I'm your newest follower! Come visit me sometime when you get a chance.

I would have given up way before then.

My son has two huge transformer toys that I can not ever get to transform the way they should. After about 45 minutes with one I just handed it back to him and said "Sorry Honey, Mommy is stupid and this toy makes her want a grown up beverage. Take it to Daddy, please."

Oh, I don't know how you can stand the look on that Indiana Jones lego man. He is a cheeky son of a gun!

Hahahaha! Love it. I just posted this morning about how I DON'T stick with things. You and I need to get together, I think! LOL.

Good Job! I think all kids toys should come with super glue! I once super glued a pacifier in a dolls mouth coz my kid loved hearing her cry...I did not!

Stacey said...

LOL The super glue only works a little. I super glued a pirate boat back together, but it still managed to come apart in several different ways!

And that, is why I tell my children, what I suspect they already know...
"I don't know how, so wait for daddy. He'll do transformers, legos, or Wii when he gets home."
Yup, set them up early for low expectations from their mother. I'm all for being a role model!
I'm your newest follower, by the way! Glad I stumbled onto your blog!
