A Storm's a Brewin'

So yesterday it was in the 60's here.

I was literally sweating while running errands.

It was glorious.

Today, however.....

I am preparing for an ice storm and possibly snow.

Huh?

Yep. I am. Makes perfect sense right?

And a few years back our neighborhood was  out of power for FIVE whole days.

My parents were in the dark for six.

That is something I will NOT suffer through again, God willing.

This time, our wonderful neighbor, who is also an electrician (or so he told us when he had his hands all over our wires) installed a "pig tail" to our breaker box. We'll be able to run our whole house on a generator....which my prince will bring home from work.

And just in case, I have fully charged all DSi's, laptops, cameras, portable dvd players, razors....you know, the important stuff.

I've stocked the fridge with roasts and makings for soups, stews, and chili.

I have hot chocolate on stand by.

I rented movies in case the satellite can't find a signal.

I bought extra bullets in case the internet goes out.

*insert fear stricken look*

We. are. ready.

So now I say....

BRING IT!!!

Totally just kidding mother nature. I would be okay with a nice fluffy snow. But I really do not want another ice storm. Please forgive my false sense of preparedness and don't teach me a lesson. I swear I'm all talk!!!

In case you are in the path of the storm and you did not remember to run out and rent videos....here are a few short ones you might enjoy.

The first one is of a talented young man (3rd grade) who won a KISS t-shirt from Jaden's auction!

These boys (fifth grade) are personality plus! (Plus brains, plus athleticism, plus chick magnets...)

If you've been following me for a while, you'll remember Lil' Papi (1st grade). I am one of his groupies. (But in a totally non-creepy way, I swear.) *No officer, I have no idea why his parents took out a restraining order on me!

And last but not least, here are the teachers from my kid's school performing Thriller.
(I hope my boys don't get bad grades for me posting this!)

You are definitely prepared, but I hope it doesn't get that bad.

Thanks for the entertainment!

I hope all turns out well in your fortress this weekend! I love the part about the bullets, and Meeko is cracking my shit up with his comment!

I am so glad that we don't have ice storms in Utah. I get pissed off if I am without power for a few hours. I can't even imagine days without it.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that Mama Nature shows you mercy!

Stay safe, and WARM!

Seeing those videos makes me sad...sad that I work in such a ghetto school district. This would be so fun...I wish our schools did things like this. Growing up our schools had that kind of cohesiveness....

And since you've prepared SO well, I'm sure it will skirt around you and all you'll see is some cloudy skies....

Hopefully you guys stay safe and warm.

OMG, I can't wait to watch these. Baby sleeping next to me, so I can't now.

I did watch a quick bit of the thriller one without sound. Who is the chick in the front with the black hat that thinks she's bad a$$? I am totally cracking up!

Glad you are all prepared just in case you do get snowed and iced in. I haven't had a chance to check out the videos yet but will come back and do that later. Stay warm! :o)

I was saying I got off the internet (after just getting it back this am) to cook supper at 9am and wash clothes in case our power went out. Ours is still on but it"s off all over about 20 minutes from me. I hope it stays like this...I can't stand being in the dark!
Good luck and stay warm!

My mother got 8 inches of snow over night! Me...2 hours away...I got about an inch - Thankfully! I'm so tired of snow. The Mariachi band in Cabo is playing in my ear right!

Lil Papi - holy shit! How frikkin adorable is he!! And talk about guts! A those moves! He's gonna be a playa when he hits about 12 lol!

The teachers doing Thriller was awesome - that took a ton of work! Too cute!

right there with ya, preparing for impending doom. They have been de-icing our roads for three days now. It did snow last night and will off and on today, but you can still see the grass. It will however not get warn enough to melt anything, in fact it will all be re-freezing alter tonight! I too have a stocked freezer, and actually have two extra kids at my house that I didn't plan for but oh well!

All we're getting is cold, nasty rain.

And what an awesome talent show! Loved the teachers & Lil' Papi.

It's actually warm here today.

Tomorrow though it's going to be cold. And then we'll probably get snow next week. Boo.

Hope you don't get the ice. The last ice storm we had we was without power for 5 days.

Whenever any snow is predicted around here it seems everyone rushes to the supermarkets to stock up on milk, bread and eggs. Not sure what people who are lactose intolerant rush out to get.

Oh - and I've been in the dark for WAY more than six days. Not so bad, just sayin'.
